PlayAural is an online multiplayer gaming platform built with an audio-first approach. It is built upon the open-source foundation of PlayPalace. I have modified and expanded upon this original source code to create PlayAural, aiming to share an environment where blind users and all players can join in easily. From navigating menus to executing game actions and chatting, everything relies on keyboard shortcuts, synthesized speech, and spatial audio.
The platform supports both a desktop client for Windows, which integrates well with screen readers, and a web client that works smoothly on mobile devices via touch navigation. PlayAural also includes social features like a friends hub to manage your contacts, see who is online, send private messages, and invite others to your table, along with global chat commands to communicate with everyone on the server.
PlayAural currently shares a growing collection of over 25 accessible games. Card game fans can play Texas Hold'em, Blackjack, Crazy Eights, and Ninety Nine. Dice enthusiasts can enjoy Yahtzee, Farkle, or Pig. For adventure and strategy, there are board games and role-playing games like Pirates of the Lost Seas, Battleship, and social deduction games like Coup. You can even add computer-controlled players to fill empty seats and customize voice and gameplay settings to suit your preferences.
The game features a mobile-optimized web client so mobile users can play easily. Please visit: https://play.ddt.one
