PlayAural is an audio-first online multiplayer gaming platform. It is built upon the open-source foundation of PlayPalace. I have modified and expanded upon this original source code to create PlayAural, aiming to share a welcoming environment for blind players and anyone who enjoys accessible games. The platform brings together classic board games, card games, dice games, and social games into one shared online space.
Players can connect seamlessly across different devices using the desktop, web, and mobile clients. The desktop client supports keyboard-first play and screen readers, the web client offers touch-friendly controls, and the mobile client is built around self-voicing gesture navigation. Everything from game actions to outcomes is communicated through speech and sound cues. The platform also supports both English and Vietnamese languages.
PlayAural shares a broad catalog of 32 accessible games. Card game fans can play Tien Len, Blackjack, Last Card, Pusoy Dos, Scopa, and Ninety Nine. Dice enthusiasts can enjoy Farkle, Yahtzee, Pig, and Color Game. For board and strategy lovers, the platform includes Chess, Backgammon, Battleship, Sorry!, Ludo, and Snakes and Ladders. There are also social deduction games like Coup and larger adventures like Pirates of the Lost Seas.
PlayAural is an open-source project. You can download the application builds from the releases section of the repository. For browser and mobile users, you can play directly on the web by visiting: https://play.ddt.one
