Hello everyone! Previously, when multiple apps like A, B, C, D, and E were open, if we decided to only keep app B open and close the rest, the usual method was to tap on “Recent,” choose “Close All,” and then reopen app B. This process can be time-consuming. Today, I’ll guide you through some specific ways to close a single app among the currently open apps on Samsung phones.

Guide

  • Step 1: Open the “Recent” screen by double-tapping the “Recent” button on the navigation bar or by using the system gesture (such as swiping left and up if using TalkBack).
  • Step 2: Identify the apps you want to close and the one you want to keep open. For example, let’s say we want to keep app B open and close apps A, C, D, and E.
  • Step 3: Find the app you want to close by swiping on the screen to locate its name. Then, choose one of the following methods to close the app:

Methods to Close an App

  • Method 1: This method works with various screen readers like TalkBack, Jieshuo, and Prudence. After locating the app you want to close, slide your finger across the screen until you hear the app’s name, then swipe up with two fingers from the middle of the screen to close the app.
  • Method 2: After finding the app you want to close, double-tap and hold for about one second, then slide your finger up and release it to close the app.
  • Method 3: When you’ve found the app to close, open the TalkBack menu by tapping three fingers on the screen or swiping down and right (or up and right). In the TalkBack menu, double-tap on “Actions” (on Google TalkBack 14.0 and Samsung TalkBack 14.0 and later) or “Actions” (on older versions of TalkBack), then select “Close” to close the app.
  • Method 4: This method applies to Samsung TalkBack 14.0 and Google TalkBack 13.0 and later. When you’ve selected the app you want to close, the TalkBack control will automatically switch to “Actions.” Swipe down once to hear “Close,” then double-tap to close the app.

Conclusion

I hope this guide helps you find the most convenient way to close a specific app on Samsung phones. Best of luck with your usage, and I hope this guide brings you valuable support!
